Resonant Sandstone
I went into the desert - When I returned, I had left part of myself there and I had taken a part of it with me.
It is in these places of confined rock that I am calm and contemplative. Surround by the protection of the rock, my mind can wander to places of the real, surreal and unreal. In these moments when the light bathes me in her warmth and the cool of the shadow calm my fears - I can truly be myself and capture the important moments.
I became connected to this place over a decade ago now. It keeps calling me back year after year. I think that I left a part of me there that first year and I took a part of that place with me as I traveled back home. That piece calls to me. It begs me to come visit it like an old lost friend. So from time to time I return.
During these times together, I recall the days gone by and our shared history. To the past, present and future. This place calls to me in a different manor now than it has in the past. It calls for me to dig deeper into myself and into the places surrounding me. It calls to me to connect on new levels that I never thought possible or probable. I am in a gentler quieter mindset now. I can hear the calling a lot clearer now and I am listening better than I have ever.
